As we approach the close of Fiscal Year 2026, I am proud of the steady and meaningful growth we are witnessing across CERG’s Antioch, Minnesota Avenue, and Good Hope Road centers. This progress reflects not only increased demand for high-quality early childhood education in our communities, but also the trust that families across Washington, DC continue to place in our work.
With that responsibility in mind, we are taking intentional and strategic steps to strengthen our impact.
One of the most significant developments underway is the expansion of our Minnesota Avenue Center. This investment will add six new classrooms, allowing us to serve more children and families in Ward 7 and deepen our presence in a community that remains central to our mission. Growth, for us, is not simply about scale—it is about increasing access while maintaining the quality, care, and consistency that define the CERG experience.
At the same time, we are making disciplined decisions about how and where we grow. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to formally move on from the planned Skyland Center project on Marion Barry Road. While we were excited about the potential of that site, we believe our resources are best directed toward strengthening and expanding the centers we already operate, as well as investing in opportunities that offer strong, sustainable partnerships.
In that spirit, we are excited to move forward with the development of our new Cardozo Campus, in partnership with Cardozo High School and the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). This collaboration represents an important step in aligning early childhood education with broader educational pathways in the District. It is an opportunity to create a model that not only serves young children, but also connects more intentionally with the systems that support them as they grow.
These decisions reflect a broader philosophy guiding CERG into the future: thoughtful growth, strong partnerships, and a continued focus on community-centered impact. We are committed to investing in our staff, supporting families, and creating environments where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As we look ahead, I remain optimistic about what lies before us. The momentum we are building today will shape the opportunities available to the children and families we serve tomorrow. Thank you for being part of this work and for continuing to support CERG’s mission across Washington, DC.
