Literacy pertains to the ability to read, write, interpret, understand, and communicate. - Dedicate a time each day for reading
Whether in the afternoon or right before bedtime, reading storybooks with your child can help develop early literacy skills. Reading and pointing to the pictures found in books can help them identify the words and meanings of each image. It also allows them to become attuned to the tones of the language. - Share stories during mealtime
While having a meal, encourage storytelling by sharing an event that happened to you. Encourage reciprocation by asking your child about what happened at school or how their day went. This enhances their communication skills and allows them to associate language and emotions with experiences. - Sing songs together
